Some roads, lights and signs are confusing to us. For instance, you might get confused about green arrows and a gree light at the same time. Studies have shown that using a mobile phone makes you distracted while you are driving. Many states have banned the use of cell phones while driving. The use of cell phones while driving have caused many fatalities.

No matter how safe you think your driving is, there will always be someone else on the road that you will have to watch in order to prevent an accident. Some drivers are unexperienced, while others are over-confident in their driving abilities. Then you have the aggressive driver who thinks that he owns the road that you are driving on. These drivers are the cause of road rage, thus causing accidents. Speeding and alcohol also play a factor in many accidents.

You, as a driver, can prevent accidents by using good judgement, having your eyesight checked and by paying attention to what you and other drivers around you are doing. Avoid using mobile phones. If you have to, pull over when you are able to and then use the phone. Do not drink and drive. If you have been drinking, call for someone to pick you up or take you home. Help someone else by offering to drive them home if they have been drinking. Try to be patient and alert to other cars around you. Do not speed. It is better to be late than to never get to your destination. Always buckle-up. It has been shown that safety belts do save lives.

It is also very important that your car is in a good shape. Sometimes it is better to pay a little more but to be sure that you will be safer! For example, don’t save money on good tires.
